Huge news in the world of Buddy Bites. Thanks to all your support we have been able to announce our second shelter partnership! Since launching Buddy Bites subscription dog food delivery last year, we made it our goal to feed all shelter dogs in Hong Kong by donating 1kg for every 2kg we deliver, and we are now one step closer to doing so! Since January we have been feeding all of Catherine’s Puppies (our first shelter partner) for free, and as of May 10th we completed our first donation of 500kg to the Tai Po based shelter Hong Kong Dog Rescue!!
HKDR was founded in 2003 and since then has re-homed more than 9,500 dogs while being largely funded by private donations, sales of HKDR merchandise and fundraising events. At Buddy Bites we hope to help make the great work that HKDR does easier by covering their food costs. With around 450 total dogs, we still have a long way to go to fulfil the entire shelter’s needs for free, but we are hoping to get there by the end of the year!
On Thursday, thanks to the great reception we have had since the launch of our partnership with HKDR, we were able to donate 600kg of our premium kibble. We can’t thank the Hong Kong dog community enough for the support you all give to shelters and how fun you make our lives!
Since setting up Buddy Bites almost exactly a year ago, we have gone from zero, to 1,100kg of donations month-on-month… that really escalated quickly! We have loved hearing how all you Buddy Biters are loving the new European kibble, please keep your messages coming!!
