Father's Day Blog- Celebrity Dog Dads

Happy Father’s Day to all the dog dads out there (and to our own dads obviously). In typical Father’s Day fashion we have left this incredibly last minute. I have just Moon-Pigged a golf based card along with a pack of 5 M&S socks to my Dad, and am currently Googling ‘dog dads blog’ for some inspiration. So now you know the hard work that goes into these blogs, get a cup of tea, settle in, and digest some info about some of the world’s most famous dog dads. Athletes, actors, icons, one thing they likely have in common is being irrationally affectionate to their furry friend. The idea of The Rock giving a Frenchie belly rubs is a lot more relatable to me than the time he spends in ‘The Iron Paradise’. Without further ado, here are some of the Buddy Bites team’s favourite celebrity dog dads:

Jeff Goldblum

 Jeff Goldblum dog

A real crowd favourite here. An obvious animal lover, as we can see from his roles in Jurassic Park… that makes little sense, but it’s pretty apparent if you’ve ever seen him interviewed that this man has a heart of Gold(blum)- We will see ourselves out.

In 2018 in reference to his Poodle ‘Woody’ he was quoted saying “I like caring and being deeply in love with this creature. I believe they are equally spiritually substantial, deserving of a free and lovely life”
Well said Jeff!

Steph Curry

Steph Curry Dog

What better way to relax after draining 3’s than chilling out with your Golden Doodle. We can totally get behind the name ‘Rookie’ however what we really want to know is if he has a ‘Golden State Pawriors’ jersey. If not, it would be greatly appreciated if someone could pass us Steph’s number. We have a business ‘pawposal’ for him…

Chris Pine

  Chris Pine Shelter Dog

There is a bit of bias here. Chris Pine was an actor we liked. We then found out that the LA resident is a proud dog dad to two rescue dogs, and we quickly ordered a Chris Pine poster for the office. ‘Wednesday and Wags’ likely live the dream with Captain Kirk, and we couldn’t be happier about it. We hope you have a superb Father’s Day Mr Pine. Live long and pawsper.

Antoni Porowski

 Fab 5 Dog

The fact that Antoni Porowski is a nice guy isn’t exactly surprising, but none the less him adopting his pup ‘Neon’ from Austin Pets Alive really skyrockets him in our Fab 5 ranking. I won’t list them in order of course, although I am still not entirely sure what Karamo does? Happy Father’s day and Happy Pride month Antoni from all of us at Buddy Bites!

Henry Cavill

Henry Cavill Akita

It’s still completely believable to me that Henry Cavil may actually be superman and rather than being cast in the role he simply asked if they were making a documentary about him. Having an enormous American Akita called ‘Kal’ seems to fit the part pretty well. However, picturing a scene of him giving Kal treats and calling him a good boy humanises him in some way at the very least. Enough talking about Henry Cavill, it does nothing for my ego.

Chris Evans

Chris Evans Dog

Okay, brace yourself for this one, you are likely about to seriously like Captain America. Chris (we’re on first name terms) is a huge dog lover and advocate for the shelter community. Famously in 2017 during the filming of ‘Gifted’ (where he plays a single dad we might add), a rescue dog ‘Dodger’ played a shelter dog. Following finding out the Dodger was in need of a home, Chris did what any Marvel character would do and took the adorable pup home. Since then they have brought the world some stellar Instagram content. Well worth a follow this duo.

Dwayne Johnson

French Bulldog

It is a real shame that The Rock doesn’t have two dogs called Paper and Scissors, but his Frenchie ‘Hobbs’, named after his Fast & Furious character is adorable nonetheless.

In an Instagram post (https://www.instagram.com/p/Btj2k-4hBVs/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=63dccf8e-e500-4579-89af-ea2bd9d755bb) he noted the below:

“As producer of @hobbsandshaw, I thought it was the right thing to do to actually cast my French bulldog in our movie.
Nepotism shmepotism 😉💁🏽‍♂️

Three years ago we brought puppy Hobbs and his baby brother, Brutus home to become our ohana.

Sadly, we lost puppy Brutus a few months later. Broke our hearts, but this little beast Hobbs goes on to live his best life daily and I’m quite proud of his performance in our movie.
Plus, he dropped a steaming 3 curler 💩 right in the middle of the set 😂🤦🏽‍♂️”

The sentence is maybe the most we will ever relate to star.

Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill Dog

When Jonah Hill adopted his Pitbull ‘Fig’ in 2021, he took to Instagram stating: “Thank you so much @loveleorescue you gave me a massive gift and I appreciate you and the work you and your foster parent volunteers do.”

We weren’t sure we could like you more than during your performance in Superbad, but this information takes a good run at it. We hope you McLovin and Fig play fetch on a regular basis.

There has been ups and downs to say the least over the last three years, for I think, everybody. One thing that rarely changes though is when you get home after a day, stressful or otherwise, a dog will meet you with a wagging tail and nothing but positivity. As a dog dad myself, it’s the dogs that really deserve the credit here. Sure I pick up some poo from time to time, but what I get in return is worth all the poo in the world. I really shouldn’t have gone with a poo analogy for the sentimental bit.

Happy Sunday everyone, and happy Father’s Day dad, hope you like the socks!
